Anglia Labels spots opportunity with Domino

One stop shop Anglia Labels has added a Domino inkjet press to its arsenal of print output.

Anglia Labels has completed installation of a five-colour Domino N610i at its Sudbury factory and the inkjet press is already handling 25% of the company’s turnover.

The press will be offering additional digital print capacity, running alongside its HP Indigo and will enable the printer to become increasingly reliant on digital printing. By the end of the year, it expects to be 70% digital, supported by conventional UV flexo and letterpress machines.

The installation of the Domino has been followed by that of a Daco finishing unit which will allow Anglia to varnish and die cut the reels coming off the new press. Anglia has been in business for 35 years delivering a wide range of label types and offering design and stock control as well as print, foiling and numbering of labels.

Managing director Ian Woodhead describes the business as a one stop label shop. The addition of ink printing increases the ability to cover every application its customers need, including tags, peel and read labels and wristbands.

The customers come from an equally diverse range of sectors including food and drink, agrochemical, automotive, security, household and medical. This generates revenue of £2.5 million from a 22-strong team.

Increasing the demand is for shorter runs and faster turnarounds and last year this spurred the decision to invest further in digital printing. “After visiting Labelexpo to review the range of digital presses available, specifically looking at print quality, speed, running costs, price, ease of use and service, we decided that the 5 colour Domino N610i ink jet label press was the perfect solution for us,” says Woodhead.

The press was delivered in February and was quickly in operation, a smooth installation that Woodhead attributes to the professionalism and support from Domino. He adds: “The Domino has enabled us to react to changing customer demands and provided us with the capacity to grow our business. When I look at the print quality and speed of the press and the thousands of metres of production it gets through in a day, it reinforces our decision to go into partnership with Domino.”
