Xeretec builds proposition for print services

Xeretec has acquired Landscape Group, adding HP products to its core channel for Xerox printers.

Xeretec, the largest reseller channel for Xerox in the UK, has bought Landscape Group, a major reseller for HP to education and corporates.

The businesses overlap in the sales and support of multi functional printers and workgroup printers, but not in production print where Xeretec handles the full range of Xerox cutsheet machines, but Landscape does not sell HP’s production level technology.

Xeretec chief executive Steve Hawkins says: “The game-changing acquisition of Landscape Group is a transformational moment for Xerox, HP, our customers and our staff. Xeretec will continue to consolidate and develop its longstanding commitment to the Xerox brand, building on its exceptional track record of success. This best of breed acquisition plays to the strengths of both respected brands and both resellers.”

The move reflects broader changes in the office equipment market which Xerox in particular has made a key growth area since the separation of Xerox and Corduent at the beginning of the year. Both Xerox and HP have launched a clutch of new machines in the sector this year, ramping up quality, features and functionality. Both are exploiting opportunities with inkjet technology.

George Brasher, managing director of HP UK & Ireland, says the deal “comes at a pivotal time for HP, as we set out to disrupt and reinvent the A3 copier space and provides the perfect foundation for Landscape to play a major and highly successful role in that”.

Landscape is an HP Platinum partner for managed print and is able to support HP’s Device as a Service model. This covers support, training and service in a per seat, per cost framework.

The Landscape name will remain and it stays in Portsmouth where it is able to handle the repair and rebuilding of HP MPS machines.

Xeretec says its commitment to Xerox remains undiminished. The Wokingham business has grown to sales of £56.1 million in 2016 (£61.7 million) with a pretax profit of £3.3 million (£2.9 million). It has grown through acquisition of other Xerox concessionaires, this the first to step sideways to another technology supplier.
